Your journey begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Jagat, covering approximately 225 km. This scenic 8-hour ride takes you through charming settlements, including Besisahar, as you navigate the picturesque landscapes of Nepal. Upon arriving in Jagat, you will check into a comfortable teahouse that offers warm hospitality. Take some time to unwind and soak in the surrounding beauty before settling in for the night.
Today’s trek leads you from Jagat to Dharapani, showcasing the stunning natural beauty of the region. The hike covers 15 km and takes about 7 hours, passing through lush greenery, vibrant villages, and thrilling suspension bridges. As you trek through terraced fields and small settlements, you’ll encounter refreshing streams and waterfalls perfect for photography. You will spend the night in Dharapani at a cozy lodge, reflecting on the day’s scenic views.
On the fourth day, the trail takes you through traditional villages and alpine meadows as you make your way to Chame. The hike, approximately 19 km in distance and lasting 6-7 hours, offers opportunities to stop at captivating waterfalls along the way. As you arrive in Chame, take a moment to explore the town, enjoy the views of snow-capped mountains, and check into a comfortable lodge for the night.
The fifth day involves a trek to Pisang, where you’ll traverse through Bhratang and Dudh Pokhari. This hike covers 15 km and takes around 5-6 hours, with trails winding through dense forests and picturesque villages. Along the route, you’ll be treated to stunning landscapes and several teahouses to rest and enjoy lunch. Upon arriving in Pisang, you’ll find a teahouse offering a peaceful retreat for the night.
Today’s hike to Manang involves navigating narrow trails fragrant with pine. The trek covers 16 km and lasts about 6-7 hours, with a brief stop at the historic village of Braga, home to a 900-year-old monastery. After visiting the monastery, the trail continues through beautiful forests and across suspension bridges, leading you to Manang, where you’ll stay for two nights for acclimatization. Spend your evening exploring the local area and indulging in baked goods at nearby bakeries.
This day is dedicated to acclimatization, crucial for adapting to the altitude. You’ll embark on a short hike to Praken Gompa, located at 3,945 m, which offers stunning panoramic views of Annapurna, Tarke Kang, and Gangapurna. The climb to the Gompa provides a wonderful opportunity to take in the breathtaking scenery while allowing your body to adjust to the higher elevations. After returning to Manang, relax and prepare for the next leg of your trek.
The trek today leads you from Manang to Yak Kharka, covering a distance of 10 km and taking 4-5 hours. You’ll begin with a steep ascent, moving past the village of Tengi before stopping for lunch at Gunsang, where you can enjoy magnificent views of the Annapurna mountain range. The trail meanders through pine and juniper forests and crosses suspension bridges, gradually ascending to Yak Kharka. Once you arrive, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the comforts of your teahouse.
Today’s trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi is a slow ascent of 9 km over 3-4 hours. As you hike across alpine pastures, you’ll navigate rocky terrains and cross a dramatic suspension bridge. The trail features a few teahouses for breaks along the way. Upon reaching Thorong Phedi, you will check into your lodge, enjoy a hearty meal, and rest in preparation for tomorrow’s challenging ascent over the Thorong La Pass.
Starting early, today’s trek takes you from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via the Thorong La Pass, the highest point of your journey at 5,416 m. The trek is exhilarating, with breathtaking views and prayer flags flapping in the wind. After crossing the pass, you will descend into Kali Gandaki Gorge, marveling at the stunning scenery.
