Upon landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Outfitter Nepal, who will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel, a vibrant neighborhood teeming with shops, restaurants, and cafes. Once settled, you have the rest of the day to explore the city at your leisure. You might visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or stroll through the lively streets of Thamel, which are packed with trekking gear shops and eateries. In the evening, your trekking guide will provide a briefing about the upcoming adventure. After gathering all necessary information and insights, you can rest and prepare for the journey ahead.
Following an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for a thrilling mountain flight to Lukla, known for its breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The flight lasts approximately 30 minutes and culminates at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, one of the world’s most perilous airports. Upon arrival, you will meet your porters, who will carry your gear for the trek. After a hearty lunch in Lukla, you will embark on a scenic trek to Phakding. The trail winds through picturesque landscapes dotted with cedar and pine trees alongside the Dudh Koshi River, ultimately leading you to the charming village of Phakding, where you will spend the night at a local teahouse.
After breakfast, you will set out on a six-hour trek to Namche Bazaar, the main hub of the Khumbu region. The trek presents an array of stunning vistas and allows you to soak in the fresh mountain air. As you enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will pass through quaint Sherpa villages like Monjo and Jorsale. The journey culminates in Namche Bazaar, a bustling marketplace filled with shops, lodges, and cafes. This vibrant town serves as the gateway to Everest and offers a glimpse into the rich Sherpa culture.
To help your body adjust to the altitude, this day is reserved for acclimatization. You will engage in light activities to promote acclimatization, including a visit to the Sherpa Museum and a hike to the Everest View Point. The panoramic views from here are awe-inspiring, featuring peaks like Ama Dablam and Everest. This day also allows for exploration of the local market, where you can interact with the Sherpa community and learn about their culture.
After a nutritious breakfast, you will begin your trek to Tengboche, known for its famous monastery, Tengboche Gompa. This segment of the trail is among the most beautiful, with sweeping views of majestic mountains like Mt. Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam. The trek involves a descent to the Dudh Koshi Valley before a gradual ascent to Tengboche, where you will spend the night in a local teahouse. The monastery here is a significant spiritual center for the Sherpas, and its serene atmosphere adds to the beauty of the surroundings.
Rise early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Mt. Ama Dablam. After breakfast, you will trek to Dingboche, crossing the Imja River and passing through beautiful landscapes. The trail leads you to Pangboche, where you can take in stunning views of the surrounding peaks. As you ascend towards Dingboche, located at 4,410 meters, you may start to feel the effects of the altitude. It’s important to stay hydrated and listen to your body as you adjust to the high-altitude environment.
To further aid your acclimatization, you will spend a full day in Dingboche. After breakfast, you will hike to Nagarjuna Hill, standing at 5,100 meters, for panoramic views of the Himalayas. This hike is essential for your acclimatization and allows you to appreciate the beauty of the region, including prominent peaks like Lobuche and Thamserku. After your hike, you’ll return to Dingboche to relax and prepare for the upcoming trek to Lobuche.
As you continue your ascent toward Everest Base Camp, you will trek to Lobuche. The path leads you through a stunning landscape of broad valleys, where you may encounter snow-covered trails. Although the altitude will increase, the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains will keep you motivated. Upon reaching Lobuche, you will stay in a local teahouse, surrounded by majestic peaks.
The highlight of your trek arrives as you trek to Everest Base Camp! After a quick breakfast, you will depart for Gorakshep, where you will leave your heavy gear before heading to the base camp. The journey offers mesmerizing views of the Khumbu Glacier and its stunning ice formations. After reaching Everest Base Camp, take a moment to bask in your achievement, capture photographs, and relish the extraordinary landscape. Due to the lack of accommodation at the base camp, you will return to Gorakshep for the night.
This day is dedicated to a sunrise hike to Kala Patthar, which offers one of the best viewpoints of Mount Everest. The early morning trek allows you to witness the golden rays of the sun illuminating the peaks, creating a magical atmosphere. After soaking in the stunning views, you will descend back to Pheriche, where you will spend the night.
You will start your trek back to Namche Bazaar after breakfast, following the same route you took during your ascent. This trek provides another opportunity to appreciate the stunning mountain scenery and charming villages along the way. Once you arrive in Namche, you can relax, enjoy a warm shower, and perhaps indulge in local delicacies at nearby cafes.
On the final day of trekking, you will descend to Lukla, passing through the beautiful landscape of Jorsale, Monjo, and Phakding. The route is filled with breathtaking views, lush forests, and picturesque villages, offering a fitting conclusion to your trekking adventure. Upon reaching Lukla, you can celebrate and reminisce about the incredible journey you’ve experienced together.
