Your adventure begins in the vibrant capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative, who will assist you in transferring to your pre-booked hotel in the bustling Thamel district. After checking in, take some time to freshen up and unwind. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the local area at your leisure, perhaps indulging in a little sightseeing or shopping in the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the evening, you will meet your trek leader for a briefing about the upcoming days. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have regarding the trek. A good night’s sleep is essential as the following day promises to be the start of an exciting journey.
After an early breakfast, you will depart from Kathmandu, embarking on a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley trek. The local bus journey, which takes approximately 7 to 8 hours, winds along the picturesque Trisuli River and showcases stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. You’ll pass through charming villages and small settlements, offering a glimpse of local life. The road can be bumpy, especially the final stretch to Syabrubesi, but the breathtaking vistas make the journey worthwhile. After reaching Syabrubesi, you will check into a local lodge for a comfortable overnight stay.
On your first trekking day, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will start your ascent toward the Lama Hotel. The trail initially follows the main road before leading you through lush forests of oak, maple, and bamboo. Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife such as langur monkeys and possibly the elusive red panda. The trek includes a gradual climb and culminates with a crossing over a suspension bridge to the northern bank of the Langtang Khola. Upon arriving at the Lama Hotel, a collection of cozy tea houses, you’ll settle into your accommodation for a well-deserved rest.
Following breakfast, you’ll continue your trek upstream along the Langtang Khola. The trail leads you through dense forests before opening up to reveal stunning views of Langtang Lirung, a majestic peak. After approximately three hours of trekking, you’ll reach Ghora Tabela, a perfect spot for lunch. The journey continues as you ascend gently, passing traditional Tamang villages and yak pastures adorned with chortens and mani walls. Langtang Village, which was rebuilt after the devastation of the 2015 earthquake, awaits you. You will enjoy a restful night at a local lodge, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes.
Today’s trek to Kyanjin Gompa is relatively short yet rewarding. After breakfast, you will make your way through small villages and lush yak pastures, observing Tibetan structures along the trail. After 5 to 6 hours of hiking, you will arrive at Kyanjin Gompa, located at an altitude of 3,870 meters. This area is home to the Kyanjin Monastery, several tea houses, and a cheese factory. Spend your afternoon exploring the village and taking in the stunning views of Dorje Lakpa and Langtang Lirung, before settling in for the night.
This day is dedicated to acclimatization and exploration. After a fulfilling breakfast, you can choose between a relaxed day or a more adventurous excursion. For those seeking stunning vistas, a hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,350 meters) offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Langtang Valley and its surrounding peaks. Alternatively, you may opt for a more challenging trek to Tsergo Ri, reaching an elevation of 5,000 meters, which rewards you with incredible views of over 20 peaks. Regardless of your choice, return to Kyanjin Gompa for a comfortable evening in the village.
After breakfast, you will retrace your steps back to Lama Hotel. The descent will be quicker and easier than the ascent, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Following the Langtang Khola back to Langtang Village and then to Ghora Tabela for lunch, you will complete your journey back to Lama Hotel, where you will spend the night once again in a cozy lodge, reflecting on the adventures of the past few days.
On the final trekking day, you will descend from Lama Hotel back to Syabrubesi. The hike will take you through familiar trails, allowing you to take in the beauty of the Himalayas and local villages one last time. Upon reaching Syabrubesi, you can enjoy a celebratory dinner with your trekking group, sharing stories and highlights from your journey.
After an early breakfast, you will pack up and prepare for the journey back to Kathmandu. The 8-hour drive allows you to relish the majestic views of the mountains once more as you wind your way through the scenic landscape. Once back in Kathmandu, check into your hotel and take the opportunity to relax, perhaps enjoying a massage to soothe your trekking muscles. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner, reminiscing about your unforgettable trek.
