The journey to Khopra Danda begins in Kathmandu, where trekkers enjoy a hearty breakfast before boarding a tourist bus to Pokhara. The scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway takes approximately 7-8 hours, offering stunning views of diverse landscapes, rivers, and waterfalls. As you pass through charming settlements, you’ll be mesmerized by the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Upon arrival in Pokhara, trekkers will check into a hotel, allowing time to relax and savor a delightful meal while soaking in the enchanting lakeside atmosphere.
After a restful night in Pokhara, the trek continues with a scenic drive to Nayapul, Syauli Bazaar, and finally Kimche, lasting about two and a half hours. This segment showcases local life and stunning landscapes. Upon reaching Kimche, the trek commences towards Ghandruk, a picturesque Gurung village. Trekkers will have the opportunity to engage with the local community and immerse themselves in their vibrant culture.
On the third day, trekkers set off from Ghandruk towards Bayeli Kharka, passing through Tadapani. The trek through rhododendron and oak forests is a visual delight. After a refreshing break at Bhainsi Kharka, the journey continues through beautiful countryside roads. This 6-7 hour trek culminates at Bayeli Kharka, known for its stunning vistas of Mount Dhaulagiri, the seventh-highest peak in the world.
The fourth day is marked by a hike through lush forests, where trekkers may encounter rare wildlife like the Himalayan Tahr. After about three hours, the trek reaches Chistibang, a perfect rest spot with exceptional views of the surrounding mountains. The final stretch of the trek leads to Khopra Danda (3660m), where trekkers will be rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramas and the serene ambiance of this majestic ridge.
Day five is significant for Hindu trekkers, as the journey leads to the holy Khayar Lake (4665m). The trek takes about five hours, allowing trekkers to experience the spiritual ambiance surrounding the lake. After immersing in the local beliefs and enjoying views of the glacier, trekkers descend to Swanta, a charming village known for its cheese factory, offering an opportunity to taste local delicacies and explore community life.
Leaving Swanta behind, trekkers begin their journey to Ghorepani. The trail features gentle descents through vibrant fields and various local bridges. The unique experience of crossing rivers and suspension bridges creates lasting memories. After approximately five hours of hiking, trekkers reach Ghorepani (2880m), where they can rest and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
The seventh day begins with an early morning ascent to Poon Hill (3210m) for a breathtaking sunrise view over the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre ranges. After capturing stunning photographs, trekkers descend back to Ghorepani for a brief rest before trekking to Birethanti, marking the end of the trekking section. A vehicle will be taken back to Pokhara after covering around 12.5 kilometers in 7-8 hours.
The final day involves a return drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu via the familiar Prithvi Highway. This journey provides a reflective opportunity for trekkers to recall their incredible experiences over the past eight days. After a 7-8 hour drive, travelers will arrive in Kathmandu, where they will be escorted to their designated hotel for a well-deserved overnight stay, concluding this memorable trek in the Annapurna region.
