The Muktinath Pilgrimage Tour from Pokhara is a short yet spiritually enriching journey, designed specifically for those seeking to visit one of the most revered temples in the Hindu faith. This tour offers an ideal opportunity to visit Muktinath Temple in the heart of Mustang, a place of immense religious significance for Hindus, while also offering a taste of the natural beauty of Nepal’s rugged mountain landscapes. This tour package is particularly suited for those traveling from Kathmandu or the Nepal-India border, offering a convenient and accessible way to reach Muktinath.

Day 1: Departure from Pokhara & Arrival at Jomsom

 Muktinath Pilgrimage Tour from Pokhara

The journey begins early in the morning with a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The flight, which lasts about 15 minutes, is an exhilarating experience, offering panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Upon arrival at Jomsom, you will be welcomed by a representative who will assist you in transferring to your hotel.

After settling into your hotel room, you will be provided with a jeep that will take you on an exciting ride to Muktinath Temple, situated at an altitude of 3,710 meters in the Mustang district. The drive takes about 2 to 3 hours and offers breathtaking views of the Kali Gandaki River valley, surrounding mountains, and the arid landscape of Mustang.

Upon reaching Ranipaiuwa, you will disembark from the jeep and begin the final leg of the journey on foot or by horse ride, as the Muktinath temple is located at a higher elevation. The walk from the jeep station to the temple is about 30 minutes, or you can opt for a horse ride if you prefer a more comfortable option.

Once you arrive at the Muktinath Temple, you will have the opportunity to perform your darshan (religious prayers and rituals). Muktinath is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus, as it is believed that the temple holds the power to grant moksha (liberation from the cycle of life and death).

Apart from the main temple, you can explore several other sacred spots within the temple complex, including the 108 water taps (known as the “Muktidhara”), where pilgrims take a holy bath, as well as the Jwala Mai Temple with its eternal flame that burns naturally, powered by underground gas vents. Other attractions include the Kunda, Swaminarayan, and Shaligram stones, each with its own religious significance. The views of the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from the temple are also mesmerizing, adding to the overall spiritual experience.

After your visit to the temple and its surroundings, you will return to Ranipaiuwa, either by foot or on horseback, and board the jeep back to Jomsom. Once in Jomsom, you can enjoy a hearty late lunch at your hotel, followed by some free time to explore the town. Jomsom offers a peaceful atmosphere, and you can take a walk along the Kali Gandaki River, which is just a short distance from the town center.

After your exploration, enjoy a relaxing evening with a traditional Nepali dinner at your hotel. You will spend the night in Jomsom, where you can rest in preparation for the journey back to Pokhara the next day.

Day 2: Return to Pokhara

The second day of your tour begins early with breakfast, as you prepare for the flight back to Pokhara. A jeep will transfer you to Jomsom Airport, where you will board your return flight. The scenic flight back to Pokhara offers another chance to marvel at the stunning mountain views, and the flight duration is once again approximately 15 minutes.

Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will be transferred to your hotel or, if you wish to extend your stay, you can opt for additional activities in this beautiful lakeside city. Pokhara is known for its Phewa Lake, Sarangkot for panoramic views of the Annapurna Range, and a wide array of trekking opportunities.

Alternatively, you can take some time to relax and reflect on your spiritual journey. Your Muktinath Yatra concludes in Pokhara, where you can either explore the city further or prepare for your next adventure.
