The trek begins with a scenic private jeep ride from Kathmandu to Dhap, winding through lush forests and charming countryside alongside the Sunkoshi River. After a lunch stop in Khurkot or Ghurmi Bazaar, the journey continues until reaching Dhap, where trekkers check into a local tea house for the night. This first leg of the trek covers approximately 240 km and takes about 8 hours, introducing the beauty of the region.
On the second day, the trek from Dhap to Jhapre kicks off with beautiful views of Numbur Himal. The initial part of the trail follows a road still under construction, but soon it leads to the charming village of Jhapre, perched atop a valley. After 4 to 5 hours of hiking, trekkers can explore local stupas and monasteries in the afternoon, soaking in the serene atmosphere.
The journey continues as trekkers ascend to Pikey Base Camp. The trail passes by yak homes and mani stones, leading through dense forests adorned with blooming rhododendrons. After around 5 to 6 hours of hiking, trekkers reach the Base Camp, where they will spend the night in fully equipped tents, enjoying a meal under the starry sky.
Day four features an early morning ascent to the summit of Pikey Peak for breathtaking sunrise views over the Himalayan range. The hike to the peak is straightforward, and the summit rewards trekkers with spectacular vistas of Everest, Lhotse, and more. After exploring the peak, trekkers return to Base Camp before heading to Jase Bhanjyang for the night, enjoying a hearty meal in a teahouse.
Following breakfast, trekkers resume their journey on a forest trail leading to Junbesi. This segment includes serene meadows and a picturesque gravel road, culminating in the vibrant village of Junbesi. Renowned for its tea houses and the impressive Thupten Chyoling Monastery, Junbesi offers an ideal retreat to relax and recharge after days of trekking.
On the sixth day, the trek departs Junbesi, following the Junbesi Khola to a suspension bridge and then to Beni Ghat for lunch. The picturesque trail leads through charming hamlets and terraced fields, eventually reaching Phaplu. Here, trekkers can unwind in a tea house, immersing themselves in the local Sherpa culture while savoring regional cuisine.
The final day involves a jeep ride back to Kathmandu, traversing the steep hills of Solukhumbu and the picturesque Okhaldhunga region. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, trekkers are escorted to their hotel, where they can freshen up before enjoying a celebratory farewell dinner to commemorate the successful completion of the Pikey Peak Trek. The journey covers about 280 km and takes around 9 to 10 hours.
