On Day 3, after a refreshing breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Simikot. This 45-minute flight offers panoramic views of the mountains and landscape of Nepal. Upon arrival in Simikot, check-in at your hotel. Simikot, nestled in the remote hills of the Himalayan region, is your first gateway into Tibet. After breakfast, embark on an exciting helicopter ride to Hilsa, which takes you to the Nepal-Tibet border. This 20-minute flight will provide breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges. Once you reach Hilsa, you will cross into Tibet on foot. After a brief walk, you will meet the local Tibetan and Nepali guides who will escort you to the town of Purang. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Purang, where you will acclimatize before proceeding with the yatra.
This day marks the beginning of your spiritual journey towards Mansarovar Lake, which is approximately 78 kilometers from Purang. After breakfast, you will travel to the sacred Mansarovar Lake. Known for its purity and divine energy, Mansarovar is considered the abode of Lord Shiva. Here, you will participate in various spiritual activities such as pooja (worship), havan (fire ritual), meditation, and holy bathing. These sacred practices make this stop a profound and unforgettable part of the yatra. After completing your rituals, check-in at the lodge near the lake and enjoy an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Darchen, the base camp of Mount Kailash, a towering peak sacred to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bonpo followers. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure. This is an important day for acclimatization, as you will be preparing for the trek around Kailash. The spiritual journey continues today with an early morning drive to Yam Dwar, the gateway to Mount Kailash. This marks the beginning of your parikrama (circumambulation) around the sacred mountain. The trek from Yam Dwar to Diraphuk is 18 kilometers and takes approximately 4-5 hours, leading you up to an elevation of 4890 meters. This trek can be physically challenging, so it is essential to take your time and stay hydrated. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Upon reaching Diraphuk, check into a guesthouse for an overnight stay.
The trek on Day 8 is one of the most challenging yet rewarding. After breakfast, you will cross the Dolma La Pass, the highest point of the trek at 5,636 meters. This is the most spiritually significant part of the yatra, where pilgrims offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. The trek then descends towards Zuthulphuk, a relatively flatter area. After completing this challenging trek, you will check into a guesthouse, lodge, or camp in Zuthulphuk. The day is physically demanding, but the sense of accomplishment will make it worth it.
On the final day of the trek, you will begin by descending towards Nandi Parvat, a sacred mountain located near Kailash. This 3-4 hour trek will lead you through mesmerizing landscapes. After completing the trek, you will board a bus that will take you back to Purang. Check-in at your accommodation in Purang and rest after the journey. Overnight stay in Purang.
After breakfast, begin the return leg of your journey. First, travel to Hilsa and cross the border into Nepal. From here, you will board a helicopter to Simikot.
